TO BEGIN:
Sit up straight. Try closing your
eyes and slowly inhale through your nose, puffing your belly up.
Next, feel your diaphragm expand and then your lungs. When
exhaling, empty your lungs first, then your diaphragm and
finally your belly. At the end of the exhale you want to
contract your belly tightly, squeezing out that last bit of air.
This breath should be done
to a count of four
- Four counts breathing in
- Four counts holding your
breath
- Four counts exhaling
Do this conscious breathing
technique four times. With every exhale imagine
letting go of any tension you may be feeling. Just allow it to
melt away like butter, into your breath - By the fourth breath
you will feel a wave of relaxation flood your body. Your neck,
shoulders and back will feel the most noticeable immediate
relaxing results.
So the conscious breath is the
most important part of yoga. It is combined with certain
postures or asanas for a relaxing and renewing whole body
experience. And many people believe that by
applying these simple principles to your face will help to avoid
plastic surgery. The thought is that by stimulating the glands
in the neck, which are the thyroid and parathyroid, which helps
to balance the hormones, that your skin will retain it’s relaxed
unlined state. |
