NUTRITIONAL SKIN CARE - ECZEMA
Nutritional deficits not only are
the culprits in the life threatening one such as cancer, heart
disease and stroke, they can also impact your life in lesser
negative ways in other words, the quality of life. There are a
host of immune deficiency syndromes and eczema is one. There is
a family of inflammatory diseases and I decided that inflamed
skin was probably an expression of inflammation on the inside
too.
Here’s what I found out...
I was right. I was finally
healed after years of suffering, when I made some simple
additions of certain, very special nutritional supplements to my
diet.
First and foremost, eat a diet
that includes as many un-processed foods as possible, and the
fresher the better, with anything being
organic ideal.
Take high quality
supplements to compliment your good diet. They should have a
comprehensive assortment of strong antioxidants, vitamins and
minerals and will ideally be manufactured to pharmaceutical
standards.
The only missing ingredients
for the total elimination of my dreaded eczema were ones that
filled very crucial roles, keeping skin soft, moist and supple,
and calming down the harmful inflammation. When I made these
discoveries I felt like I had won the lottery.
Essential Fatty Acids come
in the forms of Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s. Both are absolutely
necessary for soft nourished skin and reduce inflammation.
Omega 3 and Flax seed oil
are Essential Fatty Acids and can be bought in capsule form
in lots of health food stores and online. Quality should dictate
choice, not price.
Omega 6, in the large amounts
needed by us skin sufferers can be bought in capsule form as
well.
There are two that I tried at
various times that worked for me. Both are rich in a vital
healing substance called GLA…gamma-linolenic acid.
Evening Primrose oil is
the extract of a lovely yellow wildflower. It’s native to the
Americas but grows in Europe as well.
Borage oil has an even
stronger GLA content and comes from a beautiful blue wildflower
that is also known as Star Flower. The effective dose for me was
1-2 grams daily.
Both these oils contain
moisturizing properties and enormous anti-inflammatory
benefits.
Finally, in my mind, the
advantages of grape seed extract can’t be too highly
touted. High quality grape seed extract is something called a
proanthacyanadin, which is an essential bioflavanoid.
Bioflavanoids are complex organic plant compounds found mainly
in fruits and vegetables. Bioflavanoids help the body’s immune
system to reduce inflammation, allergies and infections. And
grape seed extract is loaded with them.
I’ve been completely free of my
eczema for over 14 years. It was a very long journey and I am so
grateful that I no longer hesitate shaking someone’s hand out of
my embarrassment that someone will notice my red oozing skin and
be repulsed.
I wish you well in your
quest for smooth healthy skin...
